Configuring Chromium for privacy and performance

Preface: I configure FireFox a bit stricter as I prefer Chromium for less privacy-friendly tasks, such as the occasional video call.
Installation
Use ungoogled-chromium instead of stock Chromium
macOS: brew install --cask eloston-chromium
Arch/Artix: yay -S ungoogled-chromium

You and Google
- Sync and Google services –> Improve search suggestions –> off
Autofill
- Disable everything
Privacy and security
Cookies and other site data
- Block third-party cookies
- Allow related sites to see your activity in the group –> off
- “Do Not Track” –> on
Security
- Always use secure connections –> on
- Use secure DNS –> on
Site settings
- Automatically remove permissions from unused sites –> off
Search engines
- Search engine –> DuckDuckGo
On startup
- Open the New Tab page
Languages
- Spell check –> off
Extensions
Chromium Webstore
Install chromium-web-store extension
- chrome://flags/#extension-mime-request-handling –> “Always prompt for install”
- chrome://extensions –> Enable developer mode
- Drag-drop .crx from latest releases or “Load unpacked” –> extracted .crx
