Enhancing the Kobo Clara with KOReader

Script did not work for me.
I have both installed just in case NickelMenu failsafe is tripped.
Manual Install
Kobo configuration file
Connect Kobo to computer
/Volumes/.kobo/Kobo/Kobo \eReader.conf
[FeatureSettings]
ExcludeSyncFolders=(\\.(?!kobo|adobe).+|([^.][^/]*/)+\\..+)
KFMon
- Harder to uninstall
- Includes Plato reader
- KFMon, KOReader, Plato appear as books
- No direct bottom menu option
Connect Kobo to computer
Download KFMon latest release
mv KFMon.zip /Volumes/KOBOEREADER/ and unzip
Eject, wait for reboot/“update”
NickelMenu
- Convenient menu option
- General customization capability
- Failsafe, but I didn’t manage to trigger it
- Walmart logo now on ereader
Connect Kobo to computer
Download NickelMenu latest release
mv KoboRoot.tgz /Volumes/KOBOEREADER/.kobo/ and unzip
Eject, wait for reboot/“update”
- NickelMenu will appear in bottom right corner
Reconnect Kobo to computer
(not required for KOReader) touch /Volumes/KOBOEREADER/.adds/nm/config
Add KOReader (work for both menus)
Connect Kobo to computer
Download KOReader latest release
Extract koreader to /Volumes/KOBOEREADER/.adds
For NickelMenu, create NickelMenu config file for KOReader
.adds/nm/koreader
menu_item:main:KOReader:cmd_spawn:quiet:exec /mnt/onboard/.adds/koreader/koreader.sh
Eject and uplug
